Pitbull owners have two years to declare and register their dogs with Glen Eira Council following changes made to the domestic animals act.

Councils will now be able to seize, impound and euthanise ‘‘dangerous dogs’’ found roaming the streets. American pit bull terrier, Canary mastiff, Argentinian mastiff, Japanese mastiff and Brazilian mastiff dog breeds will have to comply with the new legislation.

Restricting ANY BREED of dog is like putting restrictions on ALL WHITE MEN because most serial killing child molesters ARE WHITE MEN. Typical knee-jerk politics. The government won't even see that people are responsible for their own actions, so what's stopping these breeders from designing another breed to be their "pick". Stop punishing the breed and the good owners and start dropping the hammer on bad breeders and owners. Hard prison time and huge fines for anyone misusing/neglecting ANY dog!
