Glen Eira postal vote vetoed

GLEN Eira ratepayers will be required to vote in person, rather than by post, at this year’s council elections.

Councillors voted in favour of introducing attendance voting at last week’s council meeting, despite estimates by the Victorian Electoral Commission that attendance voting would cost $524,924 compared to $433,642 for postal voting.

Councillors supported attendance voting to discourage dummy candidates. A

ll Victorian councils will go to the polls on October 27.
